Easton woman charged with neglecting minors
EASTON, Md. – An Easton woman is facing three counts of neglect of a minor following an investigation last year.
The charges stem from an investigation that began in late October 2022, when Easton Police detectives were contacted by the Talbot County Department of Social Services in regard to the living conditions of an apartment at 31 Pleasant Alley. It was learned that 24-year-old Dai’ja Worthy was living in an apartment with three children, and the apartment was in deplorable conditions. Detectives found feces smeared on the walls and toys, old food left out, and clutter everywhere. Additionally, it was noted that the carpets were sticky and fly traps were full and throughout the apartment. A strong, foul smell was within the residence that gave investigators pharyngeal reflexes, causing them to take multiple trips outside the apartment for fresh air.
It was also learned through the investigation that the children were not being taken to important doctor appointments, were missing school, and their needs were being neglected. It reportedly cost landlords approximately $5,300 to clean and make the apartment habitable again.
