Delaware Electric Coop is working to restore power to Sussex County residents following a tornado Saturday evening. As of 5:30AM Sunday morning, officials say they have restored power to nearly 4,000 members.

On the DE Electric Coop Facebook page, officials say they are focused on restoring power to the remaining 153 homes as soon as safely possible. They state their goal is to have all power restored by noon.

The Coop had to rebuild part of the backbone of their electric system in the areas that were in the immediate path of the tornado. They reported at least 20 broken poles and other damaged equipment from Bridgeville and Greenwood to Ellendale.
