BREAKING: EF-3 tornado confirmed in Sussex Co.
BRIDGEVILLE, Del. – The National Weather Service says the tornado that touched down Saturday evening in Sussex County was an EF-3, with maximum winds of 140 miles per hour.
According to the NWS, the tornado first touched down at 5:59 p.m. in Bridgeville, near the intersection of Polk Road and Dublin Hill Road. The tornado was on the ground for a total of 14.3 miles and had a path width of 700 yards (0.4 miles). The tornado dissipated roughly 20 minutes later, at around 6:19 p.m., near Hummingbird Road and Benson Road in Ellendale.
One fatality was reported as a result of the tornado, but officials say no other known serious injuries occurred.
