Upcoming tournament raises funds to support local veterans
OCEAN CITY, Md. – One unique event looks to test your mini golf skills while giving back to local veterans.
It’s the first annual 1-Arm Golf Tournament. It’s an inclusive event that encourages all to participate, including those with disabilities.
Those who participate will not only be using regular golf clubs, but things like a broom or even an umbrella for a challenge.
Organizers tells us proceeds from the day will go to support the organization Patriot Point who provides outreach services to wounded soldiers and their families. “Patriot Point provides what I call a safe haven where they can go with their families, chill out, and talk to other people that realize what they’ve gone through,” Patricia Ilczuk Shaffer.
“When the people are done serving, they’re not actually done. The time they served and the sacrifices they made from what they’ve seen and being away from their family, we need to be there for them when they come back.”
The event was made possible by several community sponsors including us here at 47ABC.
It will be held this Saturday, April 1st at two Nick’s Mini Golf locations in Ocean City. The 57th street location will be the competitive course while the 125th Street location will be family oriented.
