Traffic stop leads to third DUI for Laurel man

LAUREL, Del. – A Laurel man was charged with his third DUI following a traffic stop Monday night.

We’re told at around 9:40 p.m., a trooper on patrol observed a Ford F-250 turning left onto Grazing Court from Discount Land Road, in wich the driver was not wearing his seatbelt. The trooper stopped the truck in the Hollybrook apartment complex and made contact with the driver and sole occupant, identified as 58-year-old Dale Wilson. Signs of impairment in Wilson were observed, and a DUI investigation resulted in Wilson’s arrest.

A search of Wilson’s truck led to the recovery of approximately 8.07 grams of crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia. Troopers also found additional paraphernalia that Wilson had thrown into the grass during the traffic stop.

Wilson was subsequently charged with third offense DUI, possession of a controlled substance in a Tier 1 quantity, tampering with physical evidence, providing a false statement to law enforcement, possession of drug paraphernalia, and several traffic offenses. He was later released on his own recognizance.
