Rehoboth Beach businesses prepping for summer season
REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. – Businesses in Rehoboth Beach say they have been struggling to find workers to help run their operations.
With limited housing for the employees and high property values, workers may find it difficult finding a place to live. Warren Rosenfeld, owner of Rosenfeld’s Jewish Deli, says he was a little short staffed last summer, but countered the light staffing with shorter hours. This summer, he says he’ll be ready to accommodate all visitors with the incoming J-1s in June and high school applications.
“Well we are hoping for a good summer because it’s been a slow winter. Slower than normal February was very slow,” says Rosenfeld. “I don’t think that any any of the shore beaches can run effectively without the J-1s and the summer help coming I think that was shown when Covid first hit in 2020 when none of the high school kids were the J-1s came in.”
Warren Rosenfeld tells us that he’s expecting even more business this summer with gas prices being reduced compared to last summer. Rosenfelds plans to go back to being open 7 days a week this year.
