Overnight homicide under investigation in Cambridge

CAMBRIDGE, Md. – Police are investigating an overnight homicide in the Cambridge area.

Just after midnight, officers received two “Shot Spotter” alerts in the areas of Pine Street at Boundary Avenue and on North Drive, with multiple shots being fired. At the same time, the Dorchester County Emergency Operations Center received multiple calls for shots fired in the same areas. Officers arrived at the scene and found a 22-year-old male victim suffering from a gunshot wound.

The victim was identified as 22-year-old Daiquan Taylor of Cambridge. He was taken to the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.

The Maryland State Police Homicide Unit was called in to assist with the investigation. Any witnesses are asked to contact either the Cambridge Police Department or Maryland State Police Homicide Unit.
