Fmr. Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan will not run for president in 2024

MARYLAND – On Sunday, former Maryland Governor Larry Hogan announced via social media that he will not be seeking the Republican nomination in the 2024 Presidential election.

In a statement, Hogan went into detail about his decision to not make a run for the White House. He says that while he is incredibly appreciative of those who encouraged him to run, he does not wish for the microscope to be put on his family after two terms in gubernatorial office.

“After eight years of pouring my heart and soul into serving the people of Maryland, I have no desire to put my family through another grueling campaign just for the experience,” he wrote.

Hogan has been critical of former president Donald Trump. He said in his announcement Republicans should ‘”move on” from former president Trump the party seeks to be successful again.

Another part of Hogan’s decision, he wrote, was that he did not want to take the opportunity away from another potential leader.

“To once again be a successful governing party, we must move on from Donald Trump,” wrote Hogan. “There are several competent Republican leaders who have the potential to step up and lead. But the stakes are too high for me to risk being part of another multicar pileup that could potentially help Mr. Trump recapture the nomination.”

Hogan’s full statement can be found on his Facebook and Instagram pages.
