POCOMOKE CITY, Md. – The Delmarva Discovery Museum is hosting its 5th annual Decoy Heritage Festival this weekend.

The event looks to preserve the rich history of decoy carving in the region.

There will also be several local vendors, a silent auction, and a variety of food.

This year’s theme is highlighting many generations of family carvers.

Executive Director Christy Gordon also tells us these artists put in quite the work to bring these masterpieces to life. “These carvers have been doing these 30 to 40 years. Some of their decoy carvings take a year or more for them to get it the way they want it,” Gordon said.

“It’s kind of like a family. We’ve been together for so many years now and people know the names of these carvers. They come, buy, trade, and just admire the carvings that are here.”

That event kicks off this Saturday, March 25th at 10a.m.
