WiHi wins 5th consecutive bayside championship

WICOMICO COUNTY, Md.– WiHi claimed their 5th consecutive bayside championship on Tuesday night with 52-47 win over rival Queen Anne’s.

WiHi dominated much of the 1st half with Antwan Wilson and Jaylin Dashiell-Andrews leading the way. The Tribe would go into halftime with a comfortable 35-21 lead over the Lions.

Queen Anne’s would start to come alive in the 2nd half by taking advantage of sloppy turnovers and missed free throws by the Tribe. QA’s Kj Smothers led the Lions in scoring with 14 points.

WiHi would lead by as much as 15 points during the 2nd half but Queen Anne’s would trim it all the way down to 2 towards the final minute of the game.

With time winding down, WiHi would find big man Kurt Thomas down low for a clutch lay-up to make it a 4 point game. Thomas would get fouled on the play and would make the free throw to make it a 5 point game to seal the victory.

With Tuesday nights win, WiHi became the 1st team to win 5 consecutive bayside championships. Head Coach Butch Waller recorded career win 899 as well.
