Two teens arrested on gun, drug charges
DOVER, Del. – Dover Police arrested two teens on weapons and drug charges over the weekend.
Shortly before 1 p.m. Sunday, officers took the report of several subjects loitering in the 986 building of the Whatcoat Apartment complex. It was reported that two of the individuals in the group were in possession of firearms.
Officers responded to the building and tried to contact the group, at which time they ran away. Officers were able to take both a 15-year-old male and 16-year-old male into custody following a brief foot chase. Police say the 15-year-old was found in possession of a 9mm handgun and 4.6 grams of crack cocaine. Officers also located a stolen 9mm handgun in the area where the 16-year-old was taken into custody. As he was being placed into a patrol car, the 16-year-old allegedly moved his head aggressively toward an officer in an attempt to hit the officer.
The 15-year-old was charged with two counts of possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was held at the Stevenson House Detention Center on a $26,200 cash bail.
The 16-year-old was charged with possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, receiving a stolen firearm, tampering with physical evidence, resisting arrest, and menacing. He was held at the Stevenson House Detention Center on a $15,100 cash bail.
