FELTON, Del. – A Florida man was arrested early Tuesday morning after police say he shot into an occupied Felton home.

Shortly before 7 a.m., troopers were called to a residence in the 100 block of Lake Drive for a report of gunshots fired into the house. When they arrived, troopers found that the home had been hit several times by shots that were fired from the outside. The residence was occupied by a 43-year-old man, a 40-year-old woman, and three children at the time. No one was injured.

It was determined that a black Chevrolet Malibu was a suspect vehicle in this incident. At around 10:20 a.m., a trooper on patrol located the vehicle near the Dairy Queen in Camden and conducted a traffic stop. The driver and sole occupant, identified as 18-year-old Tyler Schuman, was taken into custody, and a loaded handgun was found underneath the driver’s seat with numerous shell casings found inside the car.

It was later discovered that Schuman had driven to the parking lot of the Positive Outcomes Charter School after the shooting and stayed in the parking lot for a brief period of time before leaving the area. Schuman did not have any contact with the school itself.

Schuman was charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a person under 21, possession of ammunition by a person under 21, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, possession of a weapon in a safe school zone, and five counts of first degree reckless endangerment. He was held at SCI on a $100,000 cash bond.
