Pair arrested following rape investigation in Salisbury
SALISBURY, Md. – Two suspects have been charged following a reported rape and shooting.
The investigation began on January 31st, when it was reported that the victim was held against her will the previous day at an apartment in the 1000 block of Beaglin Park Drive and raped. It was determined that two firearms were displayed during the commission of the rape. Two suspects were identified as 27-year-old Wanya Dawson and 25-year-old Tylor Johnson. On January 31st, Dawson allegedly responded to a residence in the 300 block of Ohio Avenue and confronted the victim, at which point a fight ensued and Dawson reportedly fired three shots at the victim from the street. No one was injured.
A search and seizure warrant was authorized for the apartment in the 1000 block of Beaglin Park Drive, which was determined to belong to Dawson. Evidence was located for the rape investigation, as well as high capacity magazines, ammunition, cocaine, and CDS packaging material. It appeared that Dawson was involved in the street level sale and/or trade of cocaine. Unique ammunition was also located in the apartment, matching shell casings from the shooting incident on Ohio Avenue.
Dawson was arrested and charged with first degree rape, conspiracy first degree rape, first and second degree assault, second degree rape, firearm use during a violent crime, third and fourth degree sex offense, false imprisonment, reckless endangerment, possession with intent to distribute narcotics, possession of cocaine, possession of paraphernalia, possession of a firearm drug trafficking crime, assault weapon/mag use, maintaining a common nuisance to distribute CDS, and maintaining a common nuisance to distribute narcotics.
Johnson was charged with first degree rape, conspiracy first degree rape, first and second degree assault, second degree rape, firearm use during a violent crime, third and fourth degree sex offense, and false imprisonment.
