Man sentenced for attempting kidnapping of toddler
SALISBURY, Md. – A Wicomico County judge has sentenced a man for attempting to kidnap a 2-year-old child last year.
On May 14, 2022, the young victim’s family was reportedly celebrating a birthday with several neighbors. Noe Meja-Domingo was in attendance, along with his family. At approximately 10 p.m. that event, the victim’s mother put the child to bed, with the bedroom window next to the bed closed. Roughly five minutes later, the mother returned to the bedroom to put items away when she observed Meja-Domingo reaching into her child’s now opened window, pulling the child by the leg towards the opening. The mother screamed, and Meja-Domingo ran away.
Last week, Meja-Domingo was convicted of attempted kidnapping of a child under the age of 16, following a plea in which Domingo conceded the State had sufficient evidence to prove his guilt. As a result, Meja-Domingo was sentenced to 25 years, with a 10-year active term of incarceration and the remaining years suspended in favor of 5 years of probation. In addition, Meja-Domingo will be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
The conviction will also subject Meja-Domingo to deportation at the end of his sentence.
