Local non-profit continues search for permanent home, hosts event for community input on children’s museum
SALISBURY, Md. – In Salisbury, a local non-profit is seeking help from the community to make its dreams of opening a children’s museum a reality.
Minds in Motion Children’s Museum’s goal is to provide local children with a place to discover and explore various disciplines from math to STEM with a hands-on approach.
While on the search for a permanent home for 5 years now, community partners like the Crown Sports Center have allowed them to utilize the space for their programming.
The non-profit tells us their biggest challenge has been securing funding. “Once we get our doors open, that makes it much easier for us to get grant awards. Grantees want you to be open for two years in your own building in a leased space before they before they give us a sizable amount of money,” Board Member Melanie Kerber said.
“We really like to hear from some moms and dads, particularly of young children to see what we could be offering.”
The non-profit is giving the community the opportunity to weigh in on their efforts. They’re hosting a Cocktails and Conversation event this Thursday, February 23rd at Roadie Joes in Salisbury.
That event starts at 6pm and all are welcome.
