Local church to host celebration honoring service workers

WESTOVER, Md. – St. James United Methodist Church aims to honor the hard work and sacrifices of those who serve communities across Delmarva.

The church is spearheading a service worker celebration.

Educators and health care workers who managed through the COVID-19 pandemic, emergency service personnel (EMS), and more will be celebrated.

Organizers say many of these individuals put their lives on the line daily and this is a way to let them know their work is appreciated. “It is just so important we reach those people. It is so important to let them know that we care because caring shows love. We as a community have to unite together and let all of those people know that we care,” St. James UMC’s Arnelda Redding said.

The event will be held Sunday, February 26th at 3:00p.m.
