House fire claims life of Ocean Pines man

OCEAN PINES, Md. – A house fire claimed the life of an Ocean Pines man Tuesday evening.

The fire was reported just before 6 p.m. at 116 Seafarer Lane. Crews arrived at the scene to find significant fire conditions with a possible subject trapped inside. Assistance was requested from numerous fire companies, including Ocean City, Showell, Berlin, Bishopville, Selbyville, Roxana, Frankford, and Dagsboro.

Once the fire was brought under control, officials located an adult male inside who succumbed to his injuries as a result of the fire. The victim has been identified as 62-year-old Timothy Cooper.

Three firefighters were also injured, but only one required medical attention from a local hospital for a hand injury.

The Worcester County Fire Marshal’s Office responded to investigate the blaze. The exact cause of the fire remains under investigation, but it has been determined that the fire began in the laundry room.
