East Salisbury Elementary gets special treat with visit from Mayor Jack Heath
SALISBURY, Md. – Students at East Salisbury Elementary School getting a special treat this Valentine’s Day with a visit from Mayor Jack Heath.
It was a part of Kind SBY’s Random Acts of Kindness Week.
Students got the chance to speak with Mayor Heath, take photos, and show their creative side with an arts and crafts project.
The mayor left a basket of goodies for the school as well.
The school’s Principal tells us kindness is something they highlight daily through their school initiatives and the mayor’s visit was another way to further that mission. “The answers that the children gave when I asked what is kindness and give me some examples of kindness were really good. You can tell it was from the heart,” Mayor Jack Heath.
“We certainly believe in early exposure. The earlier that are scholars are exposed to good character traits, the more likely they are to just carry them into middle school, high school, and even adulthood,” Principal Maria Wright said.
After the school visit, Mayor Heath also stopped by Anchorage Health care Center in Salisbury to hand out flowers to staff and residents.
