Dover traffic stop leads to recovery of loaded gun, marijuana

DOVER, Del. – A Camden-Wyoming man was arrested on multiple charges following a traffic stop Monday afternoon.

At around 2:15 p.m., a trooper on patrol observed a gray Mercedes E350 commit multiple traffic violations while traveling northbound on Route 13 in the area of South Governors Avenue in Dover. When the trooper pulled behind the Mercedes, it accelerated and began traveling at a high rate of speed.

The trooper stopped the vehicle and made contact with the driver and sole occupant, 24-year-old Bradley Lukens. An odor of marijuana was detected inside the vehicle, and a probable cause search was subsequently conducted, leading to the recovery of a loaded 9mm handgun, a second loaded magazine with 9 rounds, and approximately 3.42 grams of marijuana.

Lukens was taken into custody and charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon, possession of a deadly weapon by a person prohibited, possession of marijuana, and other traffic related offenses. He was released on an $8,750 unsecured bond.
