DE Barn Hill Preserve starts GoFundMe after fire causes structural damage

FRANKFORD, Del. – Barn Hill Preserve of Delaware now calling on the community for helping hand after a fire Tuesday night caused much damage to the property.

We’re told crews were doing a routine walk through the park and noticed smoke and fire.

They quickly called 911 and four volunteer fire companies responded and were able to quickly control the fire.

As a result, we’re told there were a total of three enclosures completely damaged.

We spoke with Brand Manager Zach Bova who tells us they’ve now started a GoFundMe which has already received strong community support. “Part of that is having such a loyal community here on the eastern shore and locally. I think the other part of that is people form a lot of strong connections with the animals here,” Bova said.

“It was really cool to just see everyone reach out and say I hope so and so is okay or I hope this animal is alright and how can we help.”

We’re told all animals were removed safely from the enclosures.

Barn Hill Preserve of Delaware is currently in its off-season and expects to start operations back up in April.
