15-year-old student charged for possessing weapon on school grounds

SALISBURY, Md. – A juvenile was arrested Friday afternoon after he was allegedly seen with a weapon on school grounds.

At around 1 p.m., Salisbury Police received a report from a witness who saw a man place a handgun into a backpack and walk toward Wicomico High School. Salisbury Police contacted the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office School Resource Deputies, who worked with Wicomico High School staff and quickly identified the suspect as a 15-year-old Wicomico High student.

The student was quickly located and found with a BB gun in his backpack, which was a replica of a realistic-looking handgun.

Police say the teen was charged with having a weapon on school grounds. The teen was released to the custody of their guardian pending disposition by the Department of Juvenile Services.
