Two Wicomico Co. Schools under “Safe in Place” due to threatening notes

SALISBURY, Md. – Two Wicomico County schools are currently in “Safe in Place” status.

Details are limited at this time. The status affects Parkside High School and Wicomico High School in Salisbury.

Wicomico County Public Schools released the following statement on Facebook early Friday afternoon:

“Parkside High and Wicomico High School principals sent a phone and email message to parents today informing them that the schools are currently in safe in place status (also known as shelter in place status) as a precaution while similar threatening notes are being investigated at both schools. The school staffs are working closely with the school system’s Safe Schools team as well as local law enforcement to quickly and thoroughly investigate the threatening note found at each school today. Our number one priority is the safety of our students. To ensure that our students remain safe and supervised as we investigate, we have made arrangements for students to receive lunch in their classrooms. Again, all students and staff are safe in place at both schools. We will update Parkside and Wi-Hi parents and staff when more information is available.”

We will be sure to update this article with the latest information as it becomes available.
