Salisbury man arrested for DUI after crashing truck into boat in Talbot Co.

TALBOT CO., Md. – A Salisbury man has been charged with DUI following an accident investigation.

On December 27th, deputies responded to Dogwood Harbor Road on Tilghman Island for a reported crash. Deputies located a Chevrolet pickup truck that had driven off of the parking lot and landed on a boat docked in Dogwood Harbor.

The boat, a skipjack named the Rebecca T. Raurk, reportedly sustained extensive damage as a result of the incident.

The driver of the truck was identified as 45-year-old Charles Riggs, and deputies detected signs of impairment in Riggs. Witnesses reported seeing Riggs consuming alcoholic beverages at a local establishment and driving away from the establishment erratically just before the accident.

Riggs was subsequently charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and was released to a sober driver at the scene.
