Willards crash claims life of one

WILLARDS, Md. – Police say a crash in Willards Thursday evening claimed the life of one.

Deputies responded to the 8700 block of Bethel Road at around 8:30 p.m. for a reported single vehicle crash. Troopers found that the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, identified as Kevin Michael Lewis, was not breathing and suffering from injuries as a result of the crash.

Further investigation revealed that Lewis was traveling north on Bethel Road when for unknown reasons, his vehicle left the roadway and collided with a utility pole before entering a field a colliding with a wooden structure utilized for crop irrigation. Lewis’ vehicle reportedly traveled through the structure before coming to a rest.

Lewis was pronounced dead at the scene.
