WESTOVER, Md. – Somerset County Public Schools have announced the approval of the district’s 2022-2023 Virtual School Day Plan.

This plan authorizes the conversion of up to three weather-related school closure days to asynchronous virtual school days. These virtual school days implemented during weather-related closures are recognized as a full school day, eliminating the need to utilize a make-up day later in the school year.

In anticipation of a weather-related closure, schools will provide advance notice to prepare students and staff for a virtual school day. Students will take home their assigned devices and/or materials to complete assignments that have been previously downloaded or distributed. The assignments can be completed during the school closure day at a time determine by the student and parent/guardian and turned in when they return to school. Students will be marked “present” for the virtual school day upon submitting the asynchronous assignments.
