Smyrna man arrested after concealed firearm, drugs found during traffic stop
CAMDEN, Del. – A Smyrna man was arrested Sunday afternoon after he was found in possession of a firearm and drugs during a traffic stop.
Shortly before 1 p.m., a trooper on patrol observed a 2005 Ford Explorer traveling southbound on South Dupont Highway in the area of West Lebanon Road and initiated a traffic stop after a computer check showed that the registration had expired. On contact with the driver and sole occupant, 29-year-old Philip Adams, an odor of marijuana was detected, and a search of the vehicle was conducted.
Inside the vehicle, troopers found a concealed 9mm handgun, a large fixed-blade knife, approximately .6 grams of marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.
Adams was arrested and charged with carrying a concealed firearm, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and numerous traffic offenses. He was later released on a $4,250 unsecured bond.
