Recruitment for law enforcement in Worcester County becomes focus for Sheriff Matt Crisafulli’s new term

WORCESTER COUNTY, Md. – Worcester County Sheriff Matt Crisafulli has officially been sworn in for another term.

We sat down with Sheriff Crisafulli who tells us he’s overjoyed to continue to serve all who call Worcester County home.

He says he has lots of work ahead of him, with a big focus on public safety.

Recruitment and retention continue to be a challenge for law enforcement personnel in the area, which he tells 47ABC his office is on a mission to tackle.  “There’s a lot of people that are looking into the private sector. But again, law enforcement is an extremely noble profession. There’s nothing better than giving back to the community,” Sheriff Crisafulli said.

“We do that through public safety, we do that through community outreach, and we do that through strengthening the partnerships with the community that we serve. That’s and everyday process. That’s not a one-time thing.”

Sheriff Crisafulli says his office will be looking into things like adjusting the pay structure for deputies to get more men and women out to service all of Worcester County.
