“Our students really rise to the occasion:” The Salisbury School’s annual ‘Give & Receive Day’ makes big return

SALISBURY, Md.- The Salisbury School’s annual Give & Receive Day made a return.

It’s a school tradition that’s nearly 5 decades old.

Students from different grade levels are paired up and assigned a charity or organization to collect donations for.

This year’s lineup included the Humane Society of Wicomico County, Operation We Care, Salisbury Neighborhood Housing, and others.

School officials tells 47ABC that in a time of so much receiving, they want students know just how good it feels to give. “There’s a lot of need in our community and our students really rise to the occasion in terms of bringing stuff to help out,” Head of the Salisbury Lower School Andrea Vandiver said.

“It’s really something we look forward to all year. It feels really good to give back and also partner with some older kids in our school.”

Students also collected donations for Toys for Tots and made care packages for nursing home residents at the MAC center.
