Early morning fire destroys Willards home

WILLARDS, Md. – An early morning fire destroyed a Willards home on Thursday.

The fire was reported just after 5:30 a.m., at 5567 Archie Davis Road. A total of 50 firefighters from the Powellville Volunteer Fire Department spent two hours working to control the blaze.

We’re told the occupant of the home was taken to TidalHealth for non-fire-related precautionary measures. No other injuries were reported. State fire investigators have determined that the fire was accidental in nature and was caused by an electrical failure.

Total damage has been estimated at $220,000.
