Chincoteague Police investigating after body found on beach

CHINCOTEAGUE ISLAND, Va. – Chincoteague Police say they are investigating after a body was found on the beach last week.

We’re told on November 24th, police received a report that the body of a deceased male was found near the water on Assateague Beach in the area of the old Coast Guard Station on the southern end of Assateague Island.

A Federal Wildlife Officer and the Accomack County Sheriff’s Office were called in to assist in recovering the body. The remains were taken to the medical examiner’s office in Norfolk and the individual was identified as Dewey Elmer Hall Sr. of Chincoteague Island. Police say Hall had been reported missing on November 7th, and was last seen at around 1:30 a.m. on November 4th.

Anyone with information on Hall during the time he was missing is asked to contact Investigator Barnes or Corporal Gladding with the Chincoteague Police Department at 757-336-3155.
