Delaware State Auditor elect Lydia York reacts to victory

DELAWARE – We caught up with State Auditor-Elect, Lydia York, after her victory.

She received more than 50% of the votes, defeating Republican candidate Janice Lorrah.

She tells 47ABC her focus is still bringing structure to the state auditor’s office.

As she’s still processing this victory, she adds now it’s time to get the work started after getting through this period of transition. “Change has to be preceded by a transition. So, before we start making significant changes, we have to do a transition from what was to what we envision,” York said.

“To get the folks on staff oriented, supported, and directed in a fashion that’s going to help us fulfill out our role and function in government.”

York says that she has a deep sense of gratitude to the voters of Delaware and looks forward to fulfilling the important responsibility that now rests on her.
