Smyrna claims first field hockey state title, upsetting Cape in overtime

NEWARK, Del. – Kirsten Johnson’s diving goal in overtime completed one of the great upsets in DIAA field hockey history.

With the goal the Smyrna Eagles upset the 5-time defending champions, Cape Henlopen, 2-1 in the Division-I state title game at Rullo Stadium.
