Lucky Number Seven: Delmar claims another state championship

NEWARK, Del. – Delmar field hockey continued their run of dominance with another dominant effort, defeating Archmere 7-1 at Rullo Stadium at the University of Delaware Saturday afternoon. The Wildcats secured their seventh-straight state title.

Team leader, and Maryland commit, Josie Hollamon opened the scoring for the ‘Cats with 5:53 remaining in the first quarter. Maci Bradford, who is also committed to the University of Maryland, added a second Delmar goal a minute and 49 seconds later.

Leala Brown and Bradford each scored two goals, Bradford added three assists.

A deeper look into the stats show how dominant the Wildcats were in the state championship. Delmar outshot Archmere, 50-1, and tallied 23 corners while the Auks had zero for the contest.
