Local non-profit hosts open house for upcoming cold weather shelter
SALISBURY, Md.- Hands and Hearts Ending Homelessness held an open house for its cold weather shelter opening later this month.
Since last year, Park Seventh Day Adventist Church has housed the shelter.
The space provides up to 32 men food, clothing, and now transportation thanks to generous donors.
Sunday, community members got the chance to tour the facility and find out more information about volunteering.
The non-profit tells 47ABC its mission is to support our most vulnerable. “The blessing for the men is they come in and have a warm place to spend the night and to warm up. Some of them are chilled to the bone when they get here. They all want a hot drink when they get in and a hot meal. Then, just the camaraderie because these guys become our friends,” HHEH Board Chair Greg Carlson said.
The shelter will open for the season on Saturday, November 12th and will remain open until the spring.
The non-profit looks to expand and find a permanent facility for the shelter in the future.
