Shooting scare at Seaford High School

SEAFORD, Del. – Seaford Police are releasing more information about a school shooting scare on October 6th at Seaford High School. Around 2:40 p.m., the School’s resource officer was alerted to a fight between two people on campus.

As the officer left to confront the two, shots were fired. When the officer arrived, several subjects were at the scene, and a witness helped detain the two that were fighting. Police then took 18-year-old John Dunning and a 17-year-old into custody.

The investigation revealed that the 17-year-old did not attend Seaford High School, and was in possession of a starter gun and shot the gun into the air. On Wednesday, October 12th, Dunning and the 17-year-old turned themselves in to Seaford Police.

Dunning was charged with one count of disorderly conduct. Dunning was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court by video phone and released on his own recognizance. The 17-year-old was charged with three counts of Aggravated Menacing and one count of Disorderly Conduct. The juvenile was arraigned by the Family Court and released on their own recognizance.
