Police: Seaford man shot to death during home invasion, investigation underway
SEAFORD, Del. – Delaware State Police are investigating after a man was shot to death during a home invasion late Tuesday night.
Just before midnight, troopers responded to a residence in the 2800 block of West Stein Highway for a reported home invasion with a shooting. Police say the male victim, a 19-year-old, was shot multiple times in the torso and was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. The second victim, a 19-year-old female, was hit once in her lower extremity. She was taken to a nearby hospital where she was treated and released.
The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
It was determined through investigation that five suspects forced entry through the read door of the residence, brandished handguns, and went directly to the victim’s bedroom where he and the female victim were located. The suspects reportedly demanded an unknown item before the male victim was shot in his bedroom and the female victim was shot while seated on a chair in the same room. We’re told an infant child and two other adults that also live at the residence were home at the time of the incident, but were not injured.
Detectives are asking anyone who may have information on this incident to contact Detective A. Bluto at 302-741-2859 or Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333.
