Keegan Worley discusses campaign for State Rep. District 4
LEWES, Del. – Election Day is just a little over two weeks away and we got the chance to speak to the Democratic Candidate for the newly formed 4th Representative District in Delaware.
A new voice for a new district is the campaign message Keegan Worley is sending ahead of the general election.
Worley is a high school English teacher, wrestling coach, and a resident of Lewes. He says he’s running to provide a voice for the people in the newly formed district.
“I realized that if I didn’t file, if I didn’t run, that the democrats in this district wouldn’t have had a voice,” Worley told 47 ABC’s Rob Petree. “I said, ‘who better than me?’ A high school teacher, a young, fresh face, somebody looking to make changes, and I think that’s what politics needs is a young fresh face with ideas.”
As an educator and coach, Worley says he understands how issues like inadequate housing, mental health, and a lack of early learning opportunities can have profound impacts on a young person’s education and life. He tells us that, if elected, he would place a strong focus on education reform and school security across the First State.
“I believe that bullet proof glass and deadbolt locks on doors is something that we need to invest in to keep our kids safe,” Worley explained. “Education is a big priority for me.”
The newly established 4th Representative District includes areas of Millsboro and Lewes. Worley is running against Republican Jeff Hilovsky and Independent Candidate Amy Fresh.
The general election will take place Tuesday, November 8, 2022.
