Giving Tuesday registration deadline approaching for non-profits, fundraiser critical for local programming
MARYLAND — It’s almost giving season, which means the annual Giving Tuesday fundraiser is gearing up for its return.
On the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, the national one-day online campaign allows the community to donate to their favorite organizations or one they just learned about.
The Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore spearheads the local initiative for nonprofits in Worcester, Somerset, and Wicomico counties.
We spoke with the Community Foundation President Erica Joseph who says the fundraiser is a critical component to serving the community. “We may get grants or our individual supporters but finding new ways to reach out to the community to get support for these really valuable services is important. Giving Tuesday is a way that we can help shine a light on all of the good work that’s happening,” Joseph said.
Last year more than $300,000 dollars was donated, putting the total at over $1million dollars raised for the campaign since it was started 7 years ago.
The deadline for nonprofits to register is Monday October 31st.
