Early morning stabbing lands woman behind bars in Cambridge

CAMBRIDGE, Md. – Cambridge Police have charged a woman in connection to an early morning stabbing.

Shortly after 1 a.m., officers responded to the 700 block of Race Street for a reported stabbing. Officers arrived on scene and located a female victim who had been stabbed in her back. She was taken to TidalHealth Peninsula Regional for treatment.

It was determined that the victim was talking on the phone when an unknown female subject reportedly came up and stabbed her in the back before fleeing on foot. A description of the female suspect was relayed to officers, who quickly located a woman matching the description in the 400 block of Race Street. A search of the travel path from the incident location to where the suspect was located was conducted, and officers were able to recover a large knife discarded in a trash receptacle that appeared to have blood on it.

The suspect, identified as Candy Vigneri, was charged with first and second degree assault, reckless endangerment, altering physical evidence, and obstructing and hindering. She was held without bond.
