Del. State Treasurer Candidate Greg Coverdale discusses campaign

DOVER, Del. – Greg Coverdale tells us he’s running to serve as Delaware’s next State Treasurer to ensure the First State is financially stable and that he’s qualified based on his decades long experience working in finance.

Coverdale secured the Republican nomination after running unopposed in the state’s primary. With a history working in finance, Coverdale feels he’s best suited for the job.

“I’m looking to take all of my experience that I’ve built up over my 25 year career in finance and really put it to good use by serving all Delawareans,” he told our Rob Petree. “And just trying to lead us to the longtime prosperity that we deserve and is very achievable under the proper leadership, my leadership.”

Over the course of the past two decades, Coverdale has worked for multiple financial companies and currently serves as a personal financial counselor to Delaware National Guard.

Coverdale says, if elected, he wants to help establish a law that financially plans ahead and ensures state-funds are stored away to prevent certain budget cuts, specifically as it pertains to some of the state’s most important employees.

“We need to put money away in good years, so that we have that money in bad years and that we don’t have to cut the budget of our teachers, public safety workers, as well as our health and social service workers,” he explained. “Once I’m elected, I intend to help provide some leadership around that effort and make sure that’s signed into law.”

Coverdale will face off against incumbent State Treasurer and Democrat Collen Davis in the general election set for Tuesday, November 8, 2022. 47 ABC News has reached out to the Davis campaign and will also highlight her candidacy ahead of election day.
