Weather Tidbits: Energy Use vs Temperature

The relationship between energy use and temperature is explored in this Weather Tidbits. Most of your electrical bill is spend on the cooling and heating of your home. Energy usage is high with heating when temperatures are cold especially under 30°, and quickly fall in the 30s and 40s. Energy consumption tends to be low when temperatures are between 50° and 80°, with the minimum in the 60s. Warm to hot temperatures in the 80s and 90s quickly increase the cooling and energy use; with readings at 100° consuming more energy than when it’s 10° at outside. Analysts have predicted with climate change, that the money saved from heating in the warmer winters will not be enough; as that same money saved will now be spend with extra on cooling for the hotter & longer summer months.
