Summer drug investigation leads to numerous arrests in Sussex Co.

ELLENDALE, Del. – Numerous people are facing drug charges following an investigation into drug dealing in the Ellendale and Greenwood areas.

From June 2022 through August 2022, Delaware State Police say they worked with the Drug Enforcement Administration to identify several residences and property lots in the Unity Lane area of Greenwood (informally known as “The Hole”) and the Metz Lane area of Ellendale that were actively involved in the distribution of narcotics. Law enforcement executed a series of search warrants at these locations this week, resulting in the seizure of the following:

  • Approximately 9.261 grams of heroin
  • Approximately 727.49 grams of crack cocaine
  • Approximately 5.8 grams of powder cocaine
  • Approximately 1.9 pounds of marijuana
  • Three handguns
  • One muzzleloader
  • Two rifles, one of which was reported stolen out of Troop 3 in August
  • Numerous rounds of ammunition
  • Drug paraphernalia

As a result, Delaware State Police have arrested and charged several people and say two are still wanted.

54-year-old Richard Boyd was charged with three counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was held at SCI on a $15,500 cash bond.

59-year-old Alexander Marsh was charged with two counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and resisting arrest. He was held at SCI on a $10,000 secured bond.

54-year-old Robert Reed was charged with possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, possession of ammunition by a person prohibited, resisting arrest, and third degree criminal solicitation. He was held at SCI on an $8,000 secured bond.

28-year-old Taquen Owens was charged with resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance, and third degree criminal solicitation. He was issued a criminal summons and released.

31-year-old Jermaine Boyd Jr. turned himself in on Thursday and was charged with resisting arrest and third degree criminal solicitation. Police say he was initially released on his own recognizance but was committed to SCI after a Violation of Probation warrant was issued by Probation & Parole.

50-year-old Jermaine Boyd Sr. turned himself in on Thursday and was charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance in a Tier 3 quantity, nine counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was held at SCI on a $70,500 secured bond.

At this time, 32-year-old Gary Williams is wanted for possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, possession of ammunition by a person prohibited, two counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and resisting arrest.

Also wanted is 35-year-old Frank Lovett for possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance in a Tier 3 quantity, two counts of possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, two counts of possession of ammunition by a person prohibited, two counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, resisting arrest, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
