Selbyville Library to break ground for new space on October 4

SELBYVILLE, Del.- The Selbyville Public Library is excited for a new adventure they’ll be embarking on soon. They will have a ground breaking ceremony for a new library on October 4th at 4 p.m.

We’re told the new space will be on the same campus as their current building. The library director tells us this project has been in the works since 2016, but they’ve had some bumps along the way. Now, she said they have a lot of momentum and they’re happy they’ll be able to offer more space for community programs, books, private study rooms, cozy places to sit, and more.

“Right now, the libraries biggest meeting space hold about 30 people and this will have room for 150, so it’s quite a jump with all the growth in our community right now it’s really critical to the library service to grow with the community, Kelly Kline, Director of Selbyville Public Library said.

We’re told federal and state funds are being used to help construct the building, but because the library is a non-profit they would love any help they can to operate the new space.

Kline said two families, the John G. Townsend Jr. family and the Dr. Asher & Pauline Carey family, have also been a big help in making the library what it is today, and they are grateful for their support.
