New replacement school recommendation greenlit for Fruitland Primary School
FRUITLAND, Md.- The Fruitland Primary School could soon receive a makeover as Wicomico County Public Schools are in the early stages of a feasibility study.
We’re told the building was built back in 1955 and renovations haven’t been done since the 60’s.
Five options were evaluated, with The School Building Commission and Wicomico Board of Education giving the green light to move forward with the replacement school recommendation.
We caught up with Superintendent Micah Stauffer for details on the next steps for the project. “So the next step would be that we send that recommendation for funding to our county government and to the state of Maryland. Moving forward, we would then begin a planning and design phase for the project itself,” Supt. Stauffer said.
“We know that Fruitland Primary does have a number of specific needs and we’ll be excited to be able to move forward with this project for the Fruitland community.”
Superintendent Stauffer says there’s currently no set price tag on the project.
