Local organization encourages community to support ‘National Thank A Police Officer Day’

DELAMRVA – One grassroots organization is calling on those on Delmarva to join in on efforts to support local law enforcement ahead of National Thank A Police Officer Day.

Delmarva Supports Law Enforcement tells 47ABC, it’s a day that allows the community to rally behind those in blue and thank them for all their hard work.

We’re told you can show your support by doing things like bringing goodie bags to your local department or even posting a blue line flag in your yard.

The organization’s founder tells us efforts big or small can go a long way. “It’s just about making a connection and hey maybe you get to know some of your local officers in your own town that you didn’t know before and wave at them when you’re driving around,” DSLE Founder Andrea Baumann said.

“So even though it’s something small, I think it just makes any human being feel good when they know they’re appreciated for what they’re doing.”

Thank A Police Officer Day will be next Saturday, September 17th.
