“I wanted to make a change”: Local resident throws his hat in the ring for Wicomico County Council seat

WICOMICO COUNTY, Md.- One local Marylander is throwing his hat in the ring for a Wicomico County Council member seat.

Born and raised in the county, Kyle Cole, has his eyes set on the District 1 seat. Cole said he enjoys helping others. He worked as a full time Dorchester County EMT, he volunteered with the Salisbury Fire Department, and worked with the Hebron Fire Department for about 10 years. The Republican candidate said he’s running to add a fresh new voice on the council.

“I wasn’t satisfied the way the county has been running, I wanted to make a change and I was always taught if you want to change something stand up and do it,” Cole said.

Some of his focuses include school safety, pay raises for county employees, environmental issues, fixing roads, and trying to make outdoor nature parks accessible for everybody of all ages.

“I want more transparency with county council, a lot of people I’ve talked to said they don’t know what’s going behind closed doors, they don’t know what the county council is actually doing cause all they see is whats on PAC 14,” Col said. “If I’m elected, I’m going to set up for like quarterly visits in different areas of District 1 and bring that information to the citizens.”

Cole said one of the biggest messages he wants to share with locals before they cast their ballots is for them to see him for him, and not his party he’s affiliated with. “I don’t care if you’re Democrat, Republican, Independent, I’m going to see everybody individually; so look at me what I’m running for and what I can bring to the table and really think about that before casting your vote on November 8.”
