Health organizations conduct assessments to address community concerns

DELMARVA- Local health care organizations have been working together to try and address community concerns.

TidalHealth, Somerset and Wicomico County Health Departments released their Community Health Needs Assessment. This is done every three years to try and better understand the health and environment in communities. They hear from people and gather data to ultimately come up with top issues they’re seeing. This year, that includes access and health equity, behavioral health, and chronic disease and wellness.

“What’s new about the report this year and the health improvement plan that we are working on is that there is a lot more emphasis on building a resilient community, wellness, and mental health; as well as cultural and linguistic barriers as we have become more diverse communities,” Katherine Rodgers, Director of Community Health Initiatives for TidalHealth, said.

Now that they have all the data, they’re going to dig into the priority area and come up with strategies,  goals,  and objectives to make improvements.

This year they also added Sussex County data into the assessment.

If people are interested in getting involved in the planning efforts to develop innovative programs, they are welcome to contact TidalHealth.
