Wicomico Goes Purple hosting Toiletry Drive for Recovery in September
WICOMICO CO., Md- Wicomico Goes Purple needs your help to collect items for those in need.
As part of their Go Purple Campaign, they’re hosting a Toiletry Drive for Recovery. Donations will be accepted from September 1 through September 30.
Travel size items are preferred and they’re looking for alcohol free products only. We’re told these items will then be given to be those who are struggling with addiction, who are in recovery, or are homeless.
“So, what we like to do is just provide individuals with these items so that’s one less thing that they have to worry about purchasing, the cost of everything has skyrocketed and all of the toiletry items are not cheap,” Christina Bowie-Simpson, Wicomico County Opioid Coordinator, said. “I think that some of us take for granted sometimes just the ability to go to the store and have the money to purchase shampoo, conditioner, hand sanitizer, shaving cream; just all of the various items that honestly really add.”
There will be five drop off locations for donations, including Wicomico County Tourism Welcome Center, Salisbury Civic Center Box Office, Salisbury Government Office Building, United Way of the Lower Eastern Shore, and Asbury Methodist Church.
As a reminder, on August 31, the Tri County Overdose Awareness Day event twill take place at Winterplace Park6737 Blue Ribbon Rd. from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
