Trio arrested following shoplifting investigation at Tanger Outlets

REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. – Delaware State Police arrested three people on numerous charges following a shoplifting investigation Thursday evening.

Police say at around 4:25 p.m., troopers on patrol in the area of the Bayside Outlets were notified by a witness that several females had shoplifted clothing from the Columbia Sportswear Store. The suspects had reportedly concealed merchandise in large handbags and were seen walking through the parking lot.

Troopers located the suspects in the parking lot and tried to contact them, but they continued walking away and physically resisted being detained. Troopers were able to take three of the four suspects into custody at the scene, but say the fourth unidentified female fled on foot.

Further investigation revealed that the women had shoplifted from several outlet stores and wore various disguises while doing so. The suspects also reportedly had concealed stolen items underneath vehicles in the Bayside Outlets parking lot.

24-year-old Jennifer Ramirez-Sanchez, 24-year-old Sophia Gonzales, and 51-year-old Nubia Garcia, all from New York, were taken into custody at the scene.

Ramirez-Sanchez was charged with two counts of shoplifting, wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony, possession of shoplifting tools, resisting arrest, and third degree conspiracy. She was held at SCI on a $4,000 secured bond.

Gonzales was charged with two counts of shoplifting, wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony, possession of shoplifting tools, resisting arrest, hindering prosecution, and third degree conspiracy. She was held at SCI on a $4,500 secured bond.

Garcia was charged with two counts of shoplifting, wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony, possession of shoplifting tools, resisting arrest, criminal impersonation, hindering prosecution, and third degree conspiracy. She was held at SCI on a $5,000 secured bond.
