Sweets & Treats offers back to school drive, opening a new store
SMYRNA, Del. – A Delaware business, Sweets & Treats is giving back to the community just in time for the school year. Sweets & Treats is hosting its third annual back-to-school supply and bookbag giveaway, with a mission that goes beyond just providing supplies for students.
The event gives families a chance to meet other local businesses, get free food, music, and raffles, and enjoy what’s left of summer. Owner of Sweets & Treats, Monique Walker tells 47 ABC, that as a business owner who depends on the community, she knows the community needs her help too. “There’s a lot of parents that have not been able to go back to work that isn’t working and I’ve been in Walmart, I’ve been getting supplies through this all and there are parents that are still looking for stuff that they can’t find it,” says Walker. She adds, “It’s always been my thing, I love giving back to people. I feel as though I needed help back then and a lot of people helped me out so I feel as though it’s only right we give back to other people.”
The event is this Sunday, August 28th from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Sweets & Treats new location in Smyrna, 2 North Main Street. They’re still accepting donations, you can contact Monique at 302-670-1380.
